During last week RTS had achieved its all time highest values several times. An unstoppable growth had continued through 10 days in a row, whilst the most active stocks were of oil & gas sectors: Gazprom, Rosneft, Surgutneftgas, Gazprom Neft and LUKOIL. For example: stocks of Gazprom Neft have expanded over 13% in just a week, thanks to support of recently published strong IAS report, announcement of dividend payoffs and close of shareholders’ registry. By over 9% Rosneft’s stocks have also increased in value, backed by appointment of I. Sechin as vice-premier of RF. A considerable support for the Russian stock market was provided by external economic factors: publication of US statistics. More and more opinions arise that US’ recession is not as deep as it seemed. Friday also brought statistics on new houses, which rose high unexpectedly. All of this ignited a wave of purchases and RTS rose by over +1.7% in just 1.5 hours before trades ended.

Last Friday RTS increased by 2.77% and closed at 2478.87 points. Some positive influence over the indicator was sprayed by stocks of LUKOIL (+5.01%), Gazprom (+4.25%) and Sberbank (+2.27%). The shares of North-West Telecom appeared downed below the market, losing -1.97% of their value.

Classic market turnover has formed 61.8 mn USD, whereas turnover leaders seats were manned by stocks of LUKOIL (10.8 mn USD), Sberbank (10.2 mn USD) and Gazprom (9.7 mn USD), closely following each other.

Do note that last week’s dramatic growth opened new horizons for achieving new heights by RTS. This week’s target is set at 2550 points. However, we still do not exclude that players may yet to decide on fixing their income.
